Josh Flowers vs Brandon Leininger (145 lbs)
First fight of the night, both guys trading early, clinching up, and Flowers falling into Leininger's guard. Some submission attempts from Leininger. Both men look gassed, and it's a Josh Flowers wins via unanimous decision (30-27).
Adib Nour vs Zack Byrd (265 lbs)
Byrd initiates the glove-tap as the bell rings. Did they touch gloves? Slightly awkward patty-cake thing occurring. BAM!! Right hand out of nowhere from Nour, and he follows Byrd to the ground. The ref steps in and stops it. Byrd comes to his senses and puts up his dukes to the ref. The ref is doing some sort of Jedi Mind trick, and successfully convinces him the fight is over, and that he is NOT the enemy. Awesome KO. Adib Nour wins by KO in round 1.
Dustin Bertch vs Jose Alvorado (135 lbs)
Alvorado wearing what appears to be basketball shorts. They're so long, I can't even see his knees. The round opens up with a whipping leg kick for Alvorado. Bertch, a blue-belt, wants none of it. Bertch takes him down, and does some ground and pound with Alvorado's guard. Alvorado throws up an armbar! It looks tight. Everyone is screaming in this place. Ooh---SLAM by Bertch, and he escapes the armbar. Bertch passes guard, and takes the back. Hooks are in, and Dustin Bertch wins by Rear-Naked Choke.
Check out the rest after the jump:
Derrick Hill vs Nick "Nyquil" Brown (155lbs)
Nyquil sets the pace early. He's clearly a stand-up guy. Nyquil throws some slick boxing combos. Hill scores a type of lateral drop takedown. Nyquil reverses it. Hill reaches for the single, but Nyquil traps Hill's arm in a bicep-slicer crucifix thing.
Round 2. Nyquil works a slick boxing combo, and shoves Hill against the fence. Hill is bleeding badly. The ref stops it. A doctor checks the cut, and declares the fight over. Nick "Nyquil" Brown wins by TKO (doctor stoppage) in Rd. 2
Josh Fox vs Tim Miller (265 lbs)
Big boys on deck. Miller opens up on Fox. Fox gets tagged, drops, and sloppily shoots. Miller sprawls and just sort of remains on top. All Miller this round.
Round 2. More of the same. Wait, what?? Fox takes down Miller, and gets the back! He tried to tag Miller here. Miller escapes and gets side control. I'd hate to have all that weight on top of me...Americana attempt by Miller, who uses it to get mount, now working on an arm triangle! Round ends.
Round 3. Miller immediately tags Fox. Fox is hurt! He's staggering backwards, but Miller is too slow, and Fox recovers. A slick low-single by Fox who gets Miller's back. But Miller escapes again, and ends the round in a smothering half-guard. Its so rare to see a heavyweight shoot a low-single. Tim Miller wins by unanimous decision.
Jason Gomez vs Seth Schaffer (135 lbs)
Gomez and Schaffer standing across from one another as the announcer does his thing. Gomez looks like a smaller version of Nate Marquardt with red hair. Holy cow--Schaffer looks unusually calm. The fight is starting. Schaffer coming out early with crisp Thai combos. Shots are landing. Knees to the gut, and Gomez is trying for a takedown. Schaffer denies him the mercy, and wraps his head in a thai clinch. Knees to the stomach again, and Gomez goes down with some punches. The ref stops the fight. Seth Schaffer wins by TKO in round 1.
Ben Meese vs Nick Corp (185 lbs)
Meese comes out looking extremely tentative. Corp storms in with a flurry a punches which mostly miss, secures a bodylock, and falls into a nice full mount. Corp unloads with a barrage of punches. Meese is defending his head, so most or all of these punches look to be hitting the arms of Meese. The ref is stopping it. What? Nick Corp wins by TKO (ref stoppage). The crowd is booing loudly.
Corey Simmons vs Tim Enright (135 lbs)
Simmons is from Defiance, Ohio. Great hometown for a fighter. Anyway, they start the fight. Simmons punching early, trying to work angles. Enright goes wrestler-mode, BIG slam and Simmons goes down. The crowd is cheering. Enright gets a north-south headlock, and ends the round on top in full mount, but he can't do anything with it.
Round 2. Simmons is timing Enright's kick. He gets it perfectly, and lands a viscious bodyshot. Enright is hurt. He goes for a double-leg, but Simmons wraps up a guillotine. Enright taps! Corey Simmons wins by guillotine choke, round 2.
Devontae Smith vs Jon Looft (155 lbs)
Smith is looking yoked. I mean the guy is all muscle. Looft comes out with the biggest train ever(20+ people). Kinda like the Gracie Train, but without the organization, as people are haphazardly in the order. Someone from the audience tries to join the train. Okay the fight is starting. Front kick by Smith knocks down Looft. He gets back to his feet, and both men are in a spinning bodylock takedown. Smith in Looft's open half guard trying to punch him in the face. Clean punch lands and WOW! Looft is out. Devontae Smith wins by KO. Looft is still out. Some EMTs enter the cage and give him oxygen. Looft gets up after a few minutes, and everyone claps for him. Great showing by Devontae Smith.
Travis Rivers vs JT Miller (185 lbs)
The match starts, and Miller gets a BIG slam into side-control. Rivers escapes to half guard, and is using the Lockdown to prevent getting punched in the face very hard. It's working so far.
Round 2. Same exact thing. Big slam, Rivers recovers to half guard. Miller rolls him over and gets the back. Miller has Rivers in a body triangle, and is hand fighting for the choke. Rivers is defending decently. All of a sudden, Rivers looks around the auditorium. Hello Japan? A distant seizure? Whatever--Miller takes that neck and gets the choke. JT Miller wins by Rear Naked Choke.
Darryl Chajon vs Jacen Huss (195 lbs)
This fight is at a catchweight. Both men look a little thick and doughy. Chajon coming out southpaw. Both men starting to trade, feeling eachother's power. It's almost like slapboxing at some points. Huss with an open hand slap. You read that right. This is getting to be a dirty brawl. No real power here, just hands flying. Side kick by Huss. Chajon closes the round with a double against the fence. He's just stuck there, as if in time.
Round 2. Bruce Lee lead backfist by Huss! Is his right hand hurt maybe? A front kick to the pudgy gut of Chajon. Huss with another, um, open-hand-slap-thing. His peculiar striking bears an uncanny resemblence to girlfight videos I've watched on Youtube. His hand must be broken. Or, maybe he is a pimp... "Bitch please!" SLAP again.
Round 3. Chajon immediately clinches and holds Huss against the fence. Huss pimp-slaps Chajon again. Chajon yanks Huss down on his back. Huss going for a kimura attempt here. Huss abandons it to slap Chajon's ear. This fight was bizarre. Darryl Chajon wins by split decision.
Estabon Cordova vs Adam Bosley (155 lbs)
At 6'3" and 155 lbs, Cordova is one lanky dude. He comes out in a Muay Thai vest thingy, and he has a Batman logo tattooed on his stomach. I wonder if that's where your opponent's head is supposed to go when you get double-legged...oh wait...it is! Bosley takes Cordova down to the crowd's delight. Cordova working some rubber guard from the bottom. Wow--Omoplata attempt! It looks tight. The round ends. Cordova is bleeding on his face.
Round 2. Cordova standing too upright. Bosley takes him down again. Some ground and pound by Bosley. Cordova works his way to his feet, and unleashes a sizzling combination. Bosley looks for the Batman logo and gets another takedown. Cordova threatens with a guillotine, but no good.
Round 3. Cordova's mohawk is getting taller the longer the fight goes on. Same takedown and GNP by Bosley. Adam Bosley wins by decision.
Luke Burdette vs Bhrandon Poindexter (145 lbs)
The crowd is pumped. Southpaw Poindexter quickly moving around. He throws a leg kick which is timed by Burdette and taken down. Burdette trying to hold him down, but Poindexter stands back up. Poindexter kicks as Burdette punches, kneeing Burdette in the head. A wild flurry. Then a swift knee to the groin by Poindexter. The ref missed it. Burdette taps his cup. They keep trading. Poindexter chases Burdette against the fence, and hits him with a high knee to the chin. The ref missed this one again, and the crowd is crying foul. Burdette looks wobbly now. Poindexter just teeing off! Burdette at the precipice of doom. BAM right hand by Burdette knocks down Poindexter, and he pounces on him! Great comback.
Round 2. Burdette still looks wobbled. Burdette takes him down. Most of the round is spent with Luke on top.
Round 3. Same as round 2. Burdette looks to be up on the scorecard. Kimura attempt by Poindexter. He has it!! Burdette sense this and escapes correctly. The round ends. An extremely dramatic fight and comeback from adversity. The crowd is on their feet. Luke Burdette wins by unanimous decision.
Christ Dunn vs Wes Hanson (145 lbs)
With a name like Hanson, you've gotta be tough, right? Hanson rocking the Urijah Faber No Fear shorts along with cornrows. Both fighters exchange viciously in the pocket. These guys are fast. They tumble down. Hanson gets full mount. Dunn wall walks, and Hanson is in Dunn's guard now. Ground and pound, and Dunn is bleeding badly. The ref stops it so the doc and check the cut. And it's called off. Wes Hanson wins by TKO (ref stoppage due to a cut). Hanson appears to be signifying to Dunn's corner that the cut was due to Hanson's thumbnail scraping Dunn's face.
Zac Gobel vs John Lepovich (185 lbs)
Gobel looking light on his feet, even shuffling. He opens with a leg kick. Now a double-leg against the fence. Nicely concealed switch up. Gobel takes Lepovitch down, gets full mount. Lepovitch is struggling to break Gobel's posture down. Lepovitch turns, and Gobel sinks in a rear-naked choke. Zac Gobel wins by rear naked choke. Gobel is giving a fight speech. Saying how he's put up with stuff from people his whole life, even just trying to bring his own lunch to school.
Ashford McQueen vs Windom Craig (265 lbs)
Some heavy names for some heavy boys. Fight starts, and Craig tags McQueen early. Couple more shots to the downed McQueen land and its over! Windom Craig wins by TKO.
