Your Top 5 Amateur Picks:

By Matt Leyshock - Posted on 02 September 2011

First and foremost, thanks to everyone who got involved and helped me get this whole thing together.  After 900 views and 170 votes, we are left with 5 of your favorites to send over to our friends in the east.  Because we did not have a tie, I took this specifically off of vote counts, which means that yes, fighters with a larger and more motivated fan base will have an advantage.

There's really no perfect system in place with that said, check out your top 5 after the jump:

They are as follows and in no particular order:

                                   Garret Sahene 155 (7-2)

                                      Francis Healy (7-2)

                                  Mark Cherico (8-0)

                                       Todd Bevan (6-0)

                                     Tyler Saltsman (5-2)

garret is def best out of them. mark and healy are for sure great. but i haven't seen anyone really show the mix of great boxing, wrestling, and bjj like garret does. some guys got great boxin. ok, but not great wrestling or great bjj. some got great wrestling but not great boxin or bjj. ok, some got great bjj but not great boxin or wrestling. garret has them all. this is why he is best ;)

Im going to go way out on a limb and say that i think garret is potentially the p4p best amateur on the east coast.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say Bryan Klaus is the P4P biggest swinger on Garrets nuts.

Well I agree with 4 of them. And a little hint the one at the bottom isn't one of the 4.

Saltsman is technically behind chapman and garbrandt. but i like it, im a firm believer that he will win in the rematches. I dont see cody and chapman improving incredibly like i see saltsman improving because hes still just getting into the sport. but hey, he got way more votes so it is what it is, i like it, im a daywalker fan not gunna lie. and im a fan of all of these fighters who made this list.

Saltsman is ahead of the 2 guys that beat him, and they aren't even ranked? I have nothing against the guy, but if you lose to 2 guys (decently close to Chapman, not at all close to Garbrandt), how are you ranked ahead of them?

This logic is giving me a headache.

Its not  tumor ranking curt it is a fan Pound for Pound vote. what is the difference?  no weight classes and its based more on fan favorites rather than body of work.  Im not sure if voting would be the correct way to set up a ranking BUT now that you have me thinking  what if we set up a ranking system where 50% (or some percentage) was based off of popular opinion?

Just a thought
